TTC Global’s Digital Accessibility Practice welcomed Karla Patrick into the team this month.

Why are you passionate about accessibility?

I started out in medical engineering, so my work has always involved technology that improves lives. Early in my career, I had the opportunity to work closely with many users of assistive technology — observing the very real barriers that are faced when technology isn't inclusive. It became clear that accessibility isn’t a feature but a fundamental. That has been my focus ever since.

What is the highlight of your first few weeks with us?

There’s a clear sense of purpose here, and a genuine belief that accessibility should be built into everything — not bolted on later. From day one, there’s been so much shared knowledge, collaboration, and genuine passion.

What is your guidance for teams to get started on their accessibility journeys?

Don’t wait for the perfect time to start. Accessible design is really just good design, and it benefits everyone. Even small changes can make a huge difference. So, talk to users, build empathy, and keep it part of your everyday workflow, not as an afterthought. And if you’re stuck? Find people who can support and guide you (like us!).

We are thrilled to have Karla as part of our passionate digital accessibility team! Welcome Karla!
